Our store
Specsavers Washington, in Tyne and Wear recently opened their doors to their brand new store located in The Galleries shopping centre! Boasting a whopping 9 test rooms with OCT and Phoroptors, including 2 HearCare rooms and 1 Contact Lens room, the store is fitted with state of the art equipment and technology meaning you will be working in a fresh and modern environment. Washington sits in close proximity to the beautiful North East coastline including beaches with the prestigious Blue Flag and Seaside awards - high water quality and well-maintained beachfront. The nearest are Roker & Seaburn and they are only 8 miles from The Galleries. Washington Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust nature reserve sits within the town and is a great place for spotting many varieties of birds as well as otters etc. A great place for a relaxing day out.
Our team
The Optometrist Director (Simon White) has been present since February 2021 and the Retail Director (Claire Killeen) since March 2023. We are a young directorship team and love to get involved with the community. We proudly support pride month and we have a staff member who is a store representative with Prism (Specsavers LGBTQIA+ group). We also have a staff member who represents us in the Specsavers menopause forum. Every Christmas we build our own Santa's grotto in store and hire a professional Santa to come along and hand out presents to the staff children. He's great and it's a fantastic night with food and drink provided for everyone and presents for all the kids.
