Main Purpose of the Team
The Global Product Quality Team serves as the centre of excellence and governance authority for product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across a growing, multi‑category portfolio. Operating from Asia as the global quality hub, the team defines and enforces global quality frameworks across four pillars: Regulatory & Compliance, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and Quality Analytics.
The Quality Assurance team defines product standards, safety and testing requirements, and preventive frameworks that guide product design and supplier validation.
Main Purpose of the Role
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for defining, governing, and assuring product quality standards throughout the product lifecycle, from design and development through to production readiness.
The role acts as the quality framework owner, ensuring that products, suppliers, and processes are capable of consistently meeting regulatory, safety, and internal quality requirements before mass production and market release.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Process Quality Definition
- Develop and maintain product quality standards, specifications, acceptance criteria, validation plans, and quality deliverables in line with global product quality and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for design and pre-production risk assessments covering drawings, specifications, tooling, materials, where applicable, to identify quality, safety, performance, reliability, and durability risks early.
- Define testing reliability and compliance requirements, and ensure they are embedded into product development, design-change, and production-readiness processes.
Supplier & Capability Assurance
- Evaluate and approve supplier quality capability, production readiness, and control plans prior to mass production.
- Review and approve tooling samples, sealed samples, and testing reports as official quality references.
- Responsible for quality activities includes supplier onboarding, resourcing, and transition activities from a quality assurance perspective.
Regulatory & Compliance Alignment
- Ensure products meet applicable regulatory, medical device, and market‑specific requirements in partnership with the Quality Regulatory & Compliance team.
- Review and approve third‑party lab testing strategies and results before production and shipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation and traceability to support regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
Quality System & Continuous Improvement
- Own and execute defined Quality Assurance processes, risk registers, quality deliverables, tools, and governance frameworks across assigned product categories and suppliers.
- Facilitate structured root cause analysis and CAPA activities by contributing upstream risk analysis and preventive actions.
- Analyse recurring or systemic quality risks and product-performance data, and develop practical improvements to standards, specifications, supplier controls, or validation approaches.
- Drive lessons learned and risk prevention through collaboration with Quality Analytics and global stakeholders.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Act as the quality partner to Category Operations, Category Development and Buying Teams.
- Provide clear technical guidance on quality requirements, risk trade‑offs, and readiness status to support informed business decisions.
- Escalate quality‑related risks, deviations, or decision blockers to the Quality Assurance Manager in a timely and structured manner.
- Support alignment with Quality Control teams by ensuring inspection standards, defect definitions, and acceptance criteria are clearly understood and applied.
Skills, Ability or Experience
- Tertiary education in engineering-related disciplines
- Experience in eyewear related purchasing / manufacturing environment, preferably within quality assurance / product engineering function
- 3 years or more of relevant quality assurance/product engineering, or product development experience, including independent management of multiple suppliers, technical workstreams, and product launches
- Preferred: hands-on experience with smart glasses, connected eyewear, wearable electronics, or consumer electronic products, including product validation, supplier quality, reliability testing, and production launch.
- Working knowledge of product risk assessment, reliability planning, root cause analysis; familiarity with hardware-software interface validation is an advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, analytical problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills, with the ability to influence suppliers and collaborate effectively across local and global teams
