Product Compliance Engineer

Main Purpose of the Role
Responsible for managing the entire PC process from the product development stage through to final inspection before shipment release. It reports to the Product Compliance Lead (PCL) for all quality findings at any stage of the PC process and supports the lead in driving continuous improvement within this pillar. While the role is primarily responsible for resourcing SKUs and managing assigned projects, it also has to handle regular tasks performed by a Product Compliance Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessment on supplier’s frame technical drawings, specifications and tooling samples based on Specsavers PC requirements before production, identify the potential risks in product safety, durability, and usability. Communicate findings to PCL, discuss and provide technical advice to frame buyers, monitor supplier’s corrective actions with technical knowledge
- Review and approve production samples provided by suppliers with technical drawings and tooling samples after production. Ensure mass production complies with all pre-production requirements. Sign off approved samples as production and inspection reference
- Visit production and manufacturing sites regularly and ensure suitable production and quality control methods are applied accordingly
- Review and approve product testing reports from 3rd party lab before and after production, ensure products comply with regulatory requirement of medical device
- Review and approve final inspection reports from inspectors and make final shipment decision, ensuring all products released to customers are up to standards
- Closely monitor and report new SKUs PC status to PCL, work closely with UK quality team, frame buying team and ensure shipment release is on time according to frame buying critical path
- Review the PC process with PCL and support the continuous improvement plan for the pillar
- Support product compliance activities for re-sourced SKUs throughout supplier transitions
- Conduct full compliance validation for assigned re sourced SKUs
- Coordinate inspection and testing capacity to meet re sourcing timelines
- Support the team by performing a broad range of administrative duties to ensure smooth daily operations
- Work closely with Category Operations and Frame Development to maintain alignment with the established critical path
Key Skills Ability or Experience
- Tertiary education in engineering-related disciplines
- Experience in eyewear related purchasing / manufacturing environment, preferably within quality assurance / product engineering function
- Experience in quality assurance / product development with suppliers and able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with suppliers, as well as with stakeholders across local and global teams
