Your role
As our Technology Operations Support Technician, you'll be a technology support specialist and responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance across entire technology Team and key stakeholders.
You’ll Work in partnership across multiple technical complex environments to enable technology product delivery · Accountable for ensuring and maintaining Specsavers technical standards within technology teams including group teams and architects. In this role you’ll also Engage directly with Global Product Teams.
Leading & carry key responsibilities for:

- Low-level designs and specifications for internal and 3rd party development (including systems integration).
- Enabling automations in legacy environment and when building new technology services.
- Building environments and services by defining it as code and building intelligent observability into legacy and new services with product teams.
Additionally, you will:

- Review and provide recommendations for Architects on making the high-level design decisions.
- Delivers clear and accurate design and build estimates to enable the Technology Product teams to operate effectively.
- Provide technical SME knowledge of Specsavers infrastructure into project teams.
- Carry out root-cause analysis to identify underlying quality issues.
- Proactively collaborate with Testing services for regression, integration and performance testing and provide SME knowledge to UAT to ensure they can execute testing.
- Key participant in all sprint ceremonies.
- Ensure that all technical documentation is present and up to date.
- Planning and implementing changes aligned to Change Management best practice.
- Resolve 3rd line incidents for enabling technology systems and provide knowledge and guidance to Service Desks across the NE region.
- Ensure home team (NE Operations) is communicated to about all and any changes being made by the product teams.
In the role, you'll report directly to the Northern European Technology Operations Supervisor, Nicolaj Jensen, sitting in Aalborg. Occasional travel is to be expected in the role.

Your qualifications
We're seeking a knowledgeable Operations Support Technician with proven stakeholder management experience. We would also like to see a proven track record of delivering support to a speedy and dynamic environment as well as the ability to translate between technical and business functions and articulating technical complexity in business language. To fulfil this role at Specsavers, you should align with the following requirements:
Essential Technical expertise in:
-
- Microsoft platform including windows Azure cloud technologies, MDT deployment, M365.
- Windows Active Directory, Windows Server and client -operating systems and functions within.
- Linux platform, like RedHat.
Essential experience with enterprise datacentre infrastructure like:
-
- Virtualization technologies (VMware and Hyper-V)
- Servers, Blade centres,
- Storage like, SAN and NAS.
- Networking, virtual and physical. Enterprise backup solutions, like Veeam and Azure backup.
Desirable:
-
- Work within Agile Practice Management
- Knowledge of the Agile Product environment
- Experience working with business stakeholders to deliver together
- Working in a fast pace iterative/just in time world Scripting.
- Automation tools supporting IaC strategy, like Terraform and Ansible.
- Database Admin, MS SQL or MySQL

Your development
Within the first 3 months, you will:

- Be onboarded and immerse yourself in our team's collaborative ways of working, enabling us to focus on exciting and cutting-edge projects.
- Learn about our datacenter setups and our plans.
- Establish relationships with our Product Managers and grasp our agile ways of working.
Within 6-12 months, you will:

- Be working on our strategy to become more proactive by running and maintaining our platform with a ‘GitOps orchestration toolset’.
- Converting routines into automation with an IaC-mindset.
- Creating automations and actions from monitoring events.
- The expert and go-to person for automation and monitoring in our environments.
- Certified in a new or already known product.
- Delivering new solutions together with our product teams to help change lives through better sight and hearing.
