Unique opportunity to shape Specsavers' store experience with impactful, functional design across multiple global markets

At Specsavers, we're dedicated to making eye and hearing care accessible to all. As pioneers and a global leader in innovative technologies, we help people optimise their vision and hearing. We foster your expertise, welcome you into a supportive family, and propel your growth. Grounded in our collaboration, curiosity, courage, and compassion values, we strive to challenge the status quo and invite you to team up with us.

To strengthen our Global Store Development team, we're searching for an experienced retail design expert to lead the development and delivery of scalable, customer-centric store environments across our international markets.

Your role

As our new Global Store Environment Design Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of the Specsavers store experience across all our global markets. Based in our Northern Europe Support Office in Copenhagen and reporting to the Global Head of Store Environment, you’ll partner with regional design teams and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into impactful, scalable, and brand-aligned store environment solutions.

You’ll act as a subject matter expert in store and retail design, bringing together creativity, commercial thinking, and operational understanding to deliver experiences that meet customer expectations and business objectives. From developing briefs to leading tests and trials, you’ll work across cultures and regions to ensure our physical environments reflect the Specsavers brand and future ambitions.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of design briefs and translate them into scalable, future-fit store environments aligned with our Global long-term framework across all regions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally throughout the full design process—brief, concept, test, trial, and implementation

  • Create and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver commercially sound and brand-aligned solutions

  • Review and refine concepts and prototypes based on real customer and colleague feedback, gathered both onsite and offsite

  • Provide insight, evidence, and evaluation to ensure each design meets strategic, operational, and customer experience goals

  • Deliver compelling presentations to secure design approvals and document decisions across governance forums

  • Work closely with procurement and suppliers to develop scalable and cost-effective design solutions embedded into the global supply chain

  • Seek out and apply new technologies, tools, and processes that drive innovation, efficiency, and value across our global store estate

This is a unique opportunity to leave a visual and functional impact on our stores—and help shape the Specsavers experience for customers and teams globally.

This role includes occasional travel to other global offices, suppliers, and stores as needed.

Your qualifications

We’re looking for someone who brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to design, with a passion for creating meaningful customer experiences in physical retail spaces. If you have a mix of the following skills and experiences, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Experience delivering retail design projects from idea to implementation—meeting timelines, budgets, and quality expectations

  • Awareness of global retail design trends and materials, and how they’re used to build engaging, functional spaces

  • Confidence using design tools like AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office—or the ability and willingness to learn

  • Experience working with a wide range of people—across functions, cultures, and locations—to find the best way forward

  • A practical, problem-solving mindset and flexibility to adapt in a fast-moving environment

  • Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of customer behaviour in the physical retail and clinical environment

  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to organise own and others work and manage third parties

  • At Specsavers, we value different perspectives and experiences. If you don’t meet every requirement but feel you’d thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.
