The role and team

The Network Platform team delivers the strategic roadmap for the Specsavers global network. Made up of Network Architects, Engineers, Security Engineers and Analysts, the team maintains, monitors and optimises our global network, ensuring secure and seamless connectivity for sites, colleagues and customers. They also work with third‑party partners to keep the Network Platform resilient and continuously assess new technologies that can add value to Specsavers.

The team provides technical expertise during major incidents, supporting rapid diagnosis and resolution to restore services safely and efficiently.

In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert for Network Security and serve as an escalation point for security‑related incidents. You will maintain secure configurations across Meraki, Palo Alto, firewalls, routers, switches and VPNs; review and optimise firewall rulesets; drive automation and continuous improvement; and work closely with Security Operations to analyse network traffic and identify threats. You will also manage vulnerabilities, patching and access controls to maintain a robust, secure and compliant network environment.

This role participates in the global on‑call rotation and is based at the Port Melbourne Support Office when not working remotely or from an alternate location.

You will offer the below essential skills and experience:

  • Experience designing and supporting MPLS, Internet, and Cloud network services, delivering resilient, high‑performance connectivity across complex enterprise environments
  • Advanced firewall administration skills, including secure architecture design, policy and access‑control management, and detailed device configuration to maintain robust network security
  • Highly proficient with Palo Alto, Cisco, and Cisco Meraki products
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or industry recognised certifications, i.e. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills in diagnosing complex technical issues, with expertise in troubleshooting and resolving network‑security problems.
  • Willing to take part in on‑call rotations and effectively manage after-hours incidents or changes when required.
  • Works seamlessly with cross‑functional teams and upholds Specsavers’ values and behaviours.
