The role
As the Lead Application Designer, you will lead the application design function, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and commercially sound solutions aligned to business and global standards. Leading a team of 5, you’ll work closely with architects, engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to drive strong design governance and delivery outcomes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Translate business requirements into build-ready, high-quality solution designs that are scalable, commercially sound, and aligned to local and global architecture standards
- Lead design governance, stakeholder alignment, and delivery readiness to support effective and efficient solution delivery
- Provide expert design leadership throughout delivery, resolving risks and complex design challenges to maintain quality outcomes
- Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Solution Designers and Analysts
- Actively contribute as a member of both local and global design practice, partnering on major design decisions and promoting consistent standards, patterns, and ways of working
What we’re looking for:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a Lead Application Designer role or a similar position (essential)
- Proven experience designing scalable, enterprise-level solutions in complex environments (essential)
- Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns (microservices, APIs, service-based design) essential
- Detailed experience implementing Finance, ERP and supply chain systems is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical design with commercial outcomes, delivering effective functional solutions aligned to business requirements.
- A proven commitment to continuous learning, with a focus on regular development and improvement.
- Strong stakeholder management, with the demonstrated experience influencing and collaborating effectively across local and globally located technical and business teams
- Proven leadership in building and managing your teams capability, driving performance, with a collaborative, proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused approach
