To strengthen our Finance team, we're searching for an experienced Financial Controller to join our team for 12 months during our team member's leave.
Your role
As Financial Controller, you’ll provide vital financial reporting, modelling, and insights across Specsavers to ensure the management team and stakeholders have the clarity they need to drive operational and financial success. You will oversee robust application of accounting policies, ensure compliance with VAT and tax regulations, and lead period-end reporting within agreed timelines.
You’ll manage the Group’s yearly budgeting and forecasting processes, support business decisions with regular and ad hoc financial analysis, and maintain a financial risk management framework to identify and mitigate key risks. You’ll also deliver financial projections for new and existing stores, improve financial processes, and contribute to various strategic projects, working closely with the Head of Finance.
Key responsibilities include:

Ensuring Group Accounting Policy is consistently applied alongside the Accounting Manager

Guaranteeing compliance with VAT and tax laws

Managing timely period-end processing and preparation of reporting packs

Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting for the Group

Providing daily, monthly, and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis

Maintaining and developing financial risk management frameworks

Conducting financial modelling for campaigns and store performance

Supporting process improvements and ad hoc finance projects
This is a 12-month cover role, with the possibility for extension, offering a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the financial health and growth of Specsavers.

Your qualifications
We’re looking for someone who is analytical and proactive, with the confidence to navigate complexity and deliver results collaboratively. To thrive in this role at Specsavers, you should align with the following:

Relevant education at MBA or Siviløkonom level (or equivalent experience)

5+ years of relevant professional experience

Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Good understanding of VAT and tax regulations

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse, international finance teams

Well-developed organisational skills and a focus on continuously improving processes

Great attention to detail, with a structured and thoughtful approach to your work

Comfortable managing deadlines and adapting to change in a fast-paced environment

Fluent in business English
