What to Expect from the Programme

Before your formal studies begin, we'll immerse you in the Specsavers culture and introduce you to the fundamentals of audiology and patient care.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll develop the clinical and professional skills needed to:

  • Deliver diagnostic audiology services
  • Support patients with hearing rehabilitation
  • Perform wax removal procedures
  • Recommend and dispense hearing aids where clinically appropriate

The programme is delivered through a university-led course, combining online learning with seven weeks of residential study at your assigned university. You'll also receive ongoing support from a registered Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) supervisor, who will mentor and guide you throughout your apprenticeship.

Best of all, the course is fully funded. On successful completion, you'll qualify as a Hearing Aid Dispenser and be eligible to register with the HCPC.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, you'll need:

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (or an equivalent qualification)
  • To have lived in the UK/EU for at least 3 years and have the right to work in the UK
  • The ability to commit to a 40-hour working week
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, for those whose first language is not English. This is an HCPC requirement and must be to the standard of Level 7 of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

What We're Looking For

You don't need previous audiology experience, but we're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about helping people
  • An excellent communicator and listener
  • Organised, adaptable and professional
  • Customer-focused with strong attention to detail
  • A proactive problem solver
  • A supportive team player
  • Empathetic and committed to delivering outstanding patient care
  • Eager to learn and develop a long-term audiology career

Your Career with Specsavers

Qualifying as a Hearing Aid Dispenser is only the beginning. At Specsavers, you'll have access to ongoing training, development and progression opportunities throughout your career. In the future, there may even be opportunities to become a partner and own your own Specsavers business.

We expect a high level of interest in this opportunity, so applications may close before the advertised closing date. Early applications are encouraged.
