Salary: $83,000 - $94,000
Actual compensation within the range will be based on experience

What You’ll Do

 

Purpose of the role

 

As Copywriter, you’ll craft and refine copy across a wide range of formats to ensure consistency with our tone of voice and brand identity. You’ll support national campaigns, local marketing, CRM, and professional communications, as well as PR, in-store, and partnership initiatives. This role plays a key part in bringing our messages to life across every touchpoint.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Write, edit, and proofread copy, and refine copy for tone of voice, across various formats and business areas including:

 

  • National marketing – creating campaign copy documents to cover point of sale, out of home, email, direct mail, email, social, digital incl. display, Pmax, post copy, in-mall, and broadcast elements.
  • Local marketing – supporting with new store opening materials, bespoke and ad-hoc requests, radio tags, direct mail, social ads.
  • Professional marketing – reviewing/writing long-form articles or advertorials, recruitment materials for students, optometrists and retail, LinkedIn posts and ads, letters, newsletters, emails, support on campaign copy. 
  • CRM – letters, email and SMS for recall program and copy support for platform change from WINK to Acuitas.
  • Corporate partnerships – develop copy for bespoke webpages, posters, leaflets, vouchers, LinkedIn posts, other assets needed for specific partnerships. 
  • In-store environment – edit or create copy for in-store requirements, including price leaflets, guide to offers, etc. 
  • Product launches/Global copy – support with adapting global copy for Canadian audience and legal/clinical considerations (e.g., designer brand launches, website SEO content).
  • PR and social – TOV checks/edits to copy supplied internally or from their external agency, as and when required.

 

Legal and Clinical Regulatory

 

  • Routinely work closely with in-house legal and clinical teams, and senior leadership stakeholders to ensure all copy meets legal requirements and college regulations. 
  • Write and maintain legal copy matrix bible in partnership with the in-house legal team
  • Write and/or adapt T&Cs to fit offer messaging across all campaign channel assets.

 

Administration

 

  • Own and manage version control of all copy documents and edits to ensure only approved messaging is used on final assets.
  • Intake feedback from various stakeholders to adapt copy when needed.
  • Follow established ways of working, approval processes, and contribute to continuous improvement of ways of working
  • Routinely document and provide status updates of legal and clinical messaging.
  • Identify risks and roadblocks and escalate when needed; actively seek solution.

 

 

What We’re Looking For

 

Essential

 

  • 4+ years in a copywriting role; preferably with a global or national brand, having worked agency-side or in-house.
  • Portfolio of work that illustrates your expertise in writing engaging copy for various platforms and audiences.
  • Experience and adaptability to copywrite, copyedit, and proof a broad scope of marketing assets from concise headlines and SEM to long-form advertorials and web page content.
  • Solid understanding of retail marketing principles and the customer journey.
  • Experience working with legal and regulatory input to assess and refine copy.
  • Expertise in enveloping established tone of voice within copywriting efforts.
  • Pivots and adapts quickly while maintaining a calm demeanor in a consistently fast-paced and lively environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with several different teams simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage multiple copywriting projects with varying complexities and timelines simultaneously.
  • Exceptionally organized with experience intaking briefs, running materials through established approval processes to obtain feedback, and manage version control and naming conventions of documents.
  • Strong command of the English language; experience with CP writing style an asset.
